What type of records are in the IZ, NZ, and the CZ?

Answer

The following types of bib records should be managed in the IZ:

  • Physical titles linked to the NZ
  • E-resources:
    • eBooks
    • Government documents
    • Streaming video
  • Physical titles not linked to the NZ (MSP-3 exceptions)
    • Personal-copy course reserves
    • Titles borrowed on ILL from outside the SUNY Libraries Consortium
    • Inventory control of equipment
    • Host bibliographic records for bound-withs
    • Suppressed bibliographic records
    • Vendor record sets that the library is not allowed to share


The following types of bib records are in the NZ:

  • Physical bibliographic records:
    • Books
    • Journals
    • Maps
    • Mixed Media
    • Music
    • Visual Materials
  • CZ bib records automatically added to the NZ when a campus activates a collection or portfolio from the CZ. Do not order or activate from the NZ copy.
  • Limited number of electronic records managed for SUNY libraries by SUNY Library Services

Z:

  • e-Resources
    • Electronic Titles
      • eBooks
      • Electronic Journals
    • Electronic Portfolios
      • ebooks
      • Electronic journals
    • Electronic Collections
      • Electronic collections
      • Databases
