How to Apply a Network Zone (NZ) Normalization Rule and Process to the Institution Zone

  1. Duplicate the Network Zone (NZ) Normalization Rule to the Institution Zone (IZ)
  2. Create a Normalization Process for the IZ Normalization Rule
  3. Run a job using the IZ Normalization Rule

Duplicate an NZ Normalization Rule to the IZ:

  1. Open the MD Editor
  2. Click New>Placement Options
    1. Change “Placement of new rules and templates” to Local
    2. Click Save
  3. Click on the Rules tab 
  4. Search for the norm rule 
  5. Expand the Shared folder
  6. Click Duplicate from the desired SUNY Normalization Rule 
  7. Normalization rule properties screen opens
    1. Name: Add the campus three letter identifier as a prefix
    2. Make sure Share and Enabled are selected
    3. Click Save
  8. The rule opens in the MD Editor
  9. Click Save
     

Create a Normalization Process:

  1. Go to Configuration>Resources>Cataloging>Metadata Configuration
  2. Click MARC21 Holdings
  3. Click on the Normalization Processes tab
  4. Click Add Process
  5. Process Details – General Information screen opens
    1. Name: [name the process]
    2. Description: [add description]
    3. Status: [make sure it is Active]
    4. Click Next
  6. Process Details – Add Task screen opens
    1. Click Add Tasks
    2. Click the MARCDroolsNormalization check box
    3. Click Add and Close
    4. Click Next
  7. Process Details – Task Parameters screen opens
    1. Drool File Key: [select the copy of the SUNY LHR Remove 0044 normalization rule
    2. Click Save

 

Run a job using the IZ Normalization Rule:

The IZ normalization rule can be applied to the Institution when running a job once the normalization rule and process have been created.

  1. Go to Admin>Manage Jobs and Sets>Run a Job
  2. Search for the job using the Normalization Process's name
  3. Click the radio button for the job
  4. Click Next
  5. Click the radio button for the set of records the norm process is being applied to
  6. Click Next
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Submit
  9. Click Confirm
