The active hold shelf contains a list of all items currently on hold at the circulation desk to which you are logged in.  It allows you to cancel hold requests, update hold expiry dates, and declare items missing.

To manage an active hold shelf for a circulation desk, you will need the Requests Operator role scoped to that library and circulation desk.

Navigating to the Active Hold Shelf

1. Log in to the library/circulation desk whose active holds you wish to manage by clicking the location icon and then selecting the library/circulation desk.

2. Go to Fulfillment | Resource Requests | Active Hold Shelf.

Cancelling an Active Hold

1. Click the Cancel Request button next to the hold you wish to cancel.  A Confirm Request Cancellation window will open.

2. Select a reason for cancellation from the Cancellation Reason dropdown, add a cancellation note (this is optional), check the Nofity Users box to make sure the user is notified that the hold is being cancelled (the FulCancelRequestLetter is sent), and then click the Confirm button.  The hold will be cancelled, and the item will either be reshelved or put into a transfer status.

Updating the Expiration Date for an Active Hold

1. Click the Update Expiry button next to the hold needing a new expiration date.  An Update Expiration Date window will open.

2. Select a new expiration date from the Expiration Date field and then click Save.  The expiration date will be updated, but the user will not receive a notification.

Marking an Active Hold as Missing

1. Click the ellispsis next to the hold you need to mark as missing and then click the Mark as Missing link.  A Confirmation Message window will open.

2. Click the Confirm button.  The hold will be cancelled, the user will receive a cancellation notice (the FulCancelRequestLetter is sent), and the item will be marked as missing.
