How can I search in the Institution Zone (IZ) using an Network Zone (NZ) MMS ID?

Answer

It is possible to search by the NZ MMS ID in the Institution Zone (IZ) using Keywords instead of MMS ID. In the IZ, the MMS ID will search for the IZ MMS ID and not the NZ MMS ID. 

NOTE: In SUNY, NZ MMS ID ends with 4801 and the MMS ID is found in all NZ bib records in MARC field 001.


To search by the NZ MMS ID in the IZ:

  1. Perform a repository search for: All Titles or Physical Titles:Keywords: [NZ MMS ID]
  2. Select the house icon from the search scope drop-down menu to search the IZ
  3. Hit enter (or click on the magnifying glass)

NOTE:

  • Performing an "All Titles" search will return all bib records in the IZ with the MMS ID regardless of physical inventory associated with it
  • Performing a "Physical Title" search will only retrieve bib records that contain physical inventory. Physical inventory includes holdings and item records. For a physical title to be retrieved using a "Physical Titles" search it must at least have a holdings records associated with it.
