How do I assign the short resource sharing loan period to a material type?

Answer

Lending Resource Sharing fulfillment unit rules determine whether resource sharing lending requests are given the short (30 day) or long (16 week) lending loan period. The short lending loan period is for media and other protected collections. If you need to assign the short loan period to a specific collection, you can adjust the Lending Resource Sharing fulfillment unit rule.

Note: Please do not assign the short resource sharing loan period to your regular circulating collection, and please do not make any adjustments to the rule that assigns the long loan period.

1. Go to Configuration, select your resource sharing library from the Configuring dropdown, and then click the Fulfillment Units link.

2. Click the ellipsis next to your Resource Sharing fulfillment unit and then click Edit.

3. Click the Fulfillment Unit Rules tab, select Lending Resource Sharing from the Rule Type dropdown, click the ellipsis next to the Lending Short Loan rule, and then click Edit.

4. You'll see that the Lending Short Loan rule already has an input type for material type. To add a material type to the input parameter, click the ellipsis next to that input parameter and then click Edit.

5. Click the small downward arrow in the upper right corner of the Value field, select the material type you wish to add to the input parameter from the dropdown that appears, and then click the Save button.
